Busy is every parent's middle name at this time of year (actually any time of year); with all the carpools, swimming lessons, Woolies runs and everything else on the to-do list! The right car can make your life easier and your afternoons less chaotic. Don't believe us? Well, we've put this theory to the test and asked some local mums and dads exactly what they love about their family's SUV.

Nadeesha:

"I have the best car! My Skoda Kodiaq makes everything so much easier and smoother when there is a lot going on. Practically, it has everything you could need plus all of the little luxuries like a sunroof, smart safety technology (this thing practically drives for you!) and not to mention the heating and cooling seats. Now I have to tell you about these seats, they are the most comfortable things ever. It's such a relief to hop into my car some days and relax after carrying around my kids. It also has a really sleek look that fits easily into my garage. I recommend her to everyone I know."

Karen:

"Normally I'm not too invested in what car I have, I just prefer to have something practical, affordable and spacious. SUVs are everywhere these days and I was glad to have some help from the Cricks team to narrow down the options based on what I wanted. My kids are older and bigger now, so I need a bit more space to carpool all their friends to weekend sports and so on. Eventually I settled on the Honda Odyssey and I'm really stoked with how it's helped make my life easier and finally put a stop to all the squashed back seat arguments! Aside from the space and comfort, it doesn't chug down fuel like some larger cars do, it sits at about 8L per 100km which is pretty great for a 7-seater. I'll admit I'm not a car person, but I'm attached to it now!"

James:

"I bought a Nissan X-Trail last year, and there are no complaints here. It's really versatile and with the extra row of seats that fold down, I've managed to fit in surfboards, groceries, Bunnings timber, dogs, kids, camping gear.. you name it. It's a great car both capably and to look at, plus it has a high ceiling for a tall person like myself. I can take it relatively off-road on the weekends in 4x4 mode and then clean it up just in time for the school drop off on Monday. It has a heap of tech features for safety and entertainment which comes in handy on road trips and when my L-Plater daughter was just starting out on the road. It really is just one of those great family cars that are hard to fault."
